US alumni from Cote d'Ivoire creates an association

On Saturday May 18, 2019 around forty former students from the United States colleges and universited met at the United States chief of mission residence and created an association of the US graduate in Côte d'Ivoire.

US Alumni Côte d'Ivoire is a non-profit, secular, apolitical, non-union association. The objective is to establish and maintain contact between Ivorians with an academic and/or professional experience in the United States. Together, the network wish to contribute to the development of Côte d'Ivoire at the (i) professional, (ii ) academic and, (iii) social and cultural level. Following four hours of intense exchanges, different generations of alumni adopted the statutes and internal regulations and then, in a friendly atmosphere proceeded to elect the members of the executive committee. Thus was elected to the post of president Dr. Albert Toikeusse Mabri who will be assisted in his tasks by a team made up as follows: • Vice-presidents: Mrs. Sylvie Gomis-Tanoh, Mrs. Jenny-Christelle Debrimou, Mrs. Ama Tanoh, Mr. Koné Souleymane and Mr. Georges Pierre Aka, • General Secretariat falls to Mr. Abou Bamba • Assistant general secretaries, Aida Ndiaye-Riddick and Stéphane Hié Néa. • Treasurer: Ms. Maimouna Konaté-Houenou • Assistant treasurer: Mrs. Marie Michelle N’zi • Auditors: Ms. Mariame Konaté Rosalie and Dr Pierre Kablan.   Dr. Mabri Toikeusse thanked the Assembly for its choice and expressed its wish to take up the challenges ahead. The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the United States in Côte d'Ivoire, Mr. Paul Yeskoo was delighted with the creation of this association and the enthusiasm expressed. He renewed the Embassy’s commitment to support the association. It should be noted that the Embassy of the United States has been asked to hold an observer position on the committee. The US Alumni Côte d´Ivoire is the first association of former Ivorian students who graduated or who worked in the United States. Long awaited, the association intends to galvanize trade between Côte d'Ivoire and the United States.
